Your Student - Your Family
Joe's philosophy is to work collaboratively with the family. He developed his approach over the past 22 years, working with students, families, schools and educators. Joe believes that the most effective approach is to work with parents and their student. Some psychologists/counselors prefer to work with just the student - Joe has found this approach to be less effective than coordinating together as a team. Joe works with students of all ages: elementary school, middle school, high college, college and graduate school.
Joe works individually with your student, helping them define goals, define steps of action, build skills, and improve his/her performance. He works with parents to improve parenting skills, improve communication, enhance understanding of diagnoses and behavior, and assist parents in understanding the difference between facilitating their student versus enabling their student. Working together with both the student and parents, Joe helps form the "team" that will help your student achieve their potential.
Joe collaborates with pediatricians, psychiatrists, neurologists, guidance counselors, teachers, administrators and learning consultants. Guided collaboration offers your student the best opportunity for developing Individual Education Plans (IEP), 504 Accommodation Plans (504), Response to Intervention Plans (RTI), and college accommodations. Joe is familiar with, and works closely with most public and private schools in the St. Louis metropolitan area and surrounding universities. His relationships, knowledge and reputation provide a foundation of trust and respect in working with schools and colleges.
Joe's students range in age from kindergarten through graduate school. He regularly works with St. Louis University, Washington University, UMSL, the University of Missouri, Webster University, Fontbonne University, Missouri State University, Southeastern Missouri State University, Truman State University, Missouri Science and Technology University, Maryville University, Lindenwood University, Logan Chiropractic College and University, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, St. Louis Community Colleges (Forest Park, Meramec, Florissant Valley and West County) and St. Charles Community College.
